Our Opportunity:

The Senior Manager of Security Operations will work as a liaison with our Managed Security Services Provider (MSSP) to oversee daily monitoring and review of security events, stay abreast of the cyber threat landscape to be proactive in the identification of potential threats, and will work with all stakeholders to ensure the integrity and security of RBI networks, assets, and data. The ideal candidate has outstanding team development skills, the ability to diagnose threats and lead mitigation efforts, including performing root cause analysis and after-action reviews with all Information Technology Teams, and can effectively defend the enterprise against malicious network attacks. The SecOps Manager must bring a strong understanding of the business drivers that affect IT Security and be able to influence change in the organization to drive the maturity of the SOC function. The manager will provide technical and management oversight to the team. This individual is responsible for driving resolution of Cyber Security incidents, provide problem resolution for issues, and coordinating O&M Engineering support for security systems.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Report to the VP of Information Security and manage the shared services provided by the MSSP
  • Responsible for growing the SecOps team over next 1-3 years (both in talent and strength) as we continue to make strategic investment in cybersecurity
  • Lead incident response, vulnerability management / remediation
  • Manages 3rd party support vendors/systems to ensure that specific Service Level Agreement (SLA) expectations and contractual terms are being met
  • Drive creation and implementation of countermeasures (e.g. IPS signatures, DLP rules, WAF signatures, etc.) for protecting digital and information assets
  • Leverage intelligence for timely deployment of countermeasures against zero-day exploitation
  • Drive creation and implementation of custom alerting rules, searches, and dashboards for review and investigations
  • Oversees the support ticket analysis to identify and implement improvements, and reports these findings, data and KPIs to leadership in a dashboarding format
  • Review proposed firewall, proxy, and other networking infrastructure changes to determine secure rules, while still fulfilling the needs of the business with a risk-based approach
  • Use sound IT knowledge to identify/respond to common attacks through common vectors and methods with support from senior team members as needed
  • Conducts vulnerability assessments and monitors systems, networks, and databases for possible security breaches and recommends improvements
  • Owns the design and engineering of key security tools, including the automation of the execution of tasks and processes through scripting and programming
  • Works closely with other teams to embed security, logging, auditing, and support needs during the entire software development lifecycle
  • Maintains relationships and collaborates with other domains including architecture, business analysis, infrastructure, ICS, and security

Required Skills:

  • B.S. Computer Science/Engineering/IT or similar technical degree program; Or equivalent experience in cybersecurity related field desired
  • 5+ years of experience in operational security and incident response
  • 2+ years of holding a management and leadership role with a proven track record
  • 2+ years of experience in one or more of the following areas- SIEM, EDR, analytics and/or automation, threat hunting, or penetration testing
  • Strong background in SOC processes and incident management tools
  • Strong experience and knowledge of tools used for network security (DLP, NIPS, WAF, HIPS, AV, Firewalls, etc.)
  • Experience in vendor management and managing an offshore SOC/team
  • Experience in managing and coaching employees
  • Relevant security certifications a plus (such as: CISSP, GCIA, GCIH, GREM, CEH, others)
  • Knowledge of deploying or supporting enterprise logging infrastructure is a plus
