EHS (LDAR) and Reliability Technician - Delrin

DuPont's Washington Works site has an exciting opportunity for an EHS (LDAR) and Reliability Technician. The Washington Works site is located on the banks of the Ohio River near Parkersburg WV, the site employs about 750 DuPont Employees. The site began manufacturing here in 1948. We are among the largest DuPont manufacturing facilities in the world with 7 different Manufacturing Units located here at our 700-acre site. We manufacture almost 700 million pounds of product used in various automotive, food industry, building/construction and household items.

This position is an operations role responsible for supporting and implementation of the LDAR (Leak Detection and Repair) program within the unit. This role does not have direct reports, however, is responsible for coordination of efforts with the resident LDAR contractor within the unit. This role is also responsible for the support of various reliability efforts throughout the unit.

Roles/Responsibilities:

SHE (LDAR) Responsibilities

  • Awareness of general requirements of the LDAR rules in force for the unit

  • Responsible for being engaged in process change work and projects to ensure the LDAR program remains up-to-date

  • Interact closely with Operations and the Maintenance Coordinator to ensure coordination of operating/shut-down schedules and drive leak repair attempts and final repairs.

  • Responsible for processing Delays of Repairs promptly.

  • Responsible for working with the LDAR contractors on a daily basis to manage their work in the area regarding the Tagged Monitoring Programs

  • Work closely with the Site LDAR coordinator to ensure compliance

  • Provide training and frequent communications with the area operators and mechanics regarding the LDAR program

  • Perform frequent audits of the process areas to ensure compliance

Reliability Responsibilities

  • Support day to day chemical area operations, maintenance and reliability group work as well as emergency work as needed

  • Support projects or work on critical equipment during Delrin shut-downs.

  • Provide work scopes as necessary for Delrin Maintenance or E&I Maintenance to address equipment failures.

  • Use of RCFA methodology to drive failures to root cause and put in place the appropriate administrative controls to help mitigate these from recurrence.

  • Function as management of change originator and project lead on cost or minor capital projects.

  • Work with Area and Site Leadership on various cost saving projects.

  • Proficient in the use of SAP to data for project or improvement justification.

  • Support equipment maintenance strategy effort by ensuring appropriate PM's documentation, spare parts are available, manage spare parts in the SAP stores system and by changing stocks as needed.                                                        Â

Accountability:

  • Held accountable to LDAR metrics; compliance to monitoring program requirements and no violations of program requirements

  • Shared Unit Reliability metrics

Requirements:

  • At least 3 years of experience in plant operations or maintenance experience (operator, mechanics, etc.)

  • High school diploma/GED is required

  • High hazard operation experience would be beneficial

  • 2 year Associates degree in related field (manufacturing technology/mechanical engineering) Preferred.

  • Strong computer skills (Microsoft Applications, SAP beneficial)

  • Ability to work well with others using influence

  • Able to organize, plan, and prioritize multiple tasks and changing priorities.

  • Willing and able to work from ladders, scaffolds and platforms

  • Willing and able work around hot surfaces and high temperatures and handle hot materials

  • Willing and able work with hazardous materials

  • Willing and able wear protective equipment for extended periods such as hard hats, goggles, respirators, gloves, heat resistant hot suits, Nomex suits, etc.

  • Willing and able to work alone and in isolated area

  • Willing and able to lift and move objects that weigh up to 50 lbs.
