Job Description
The Maintenance Team Trainer is responsible for guiding maintenance team members through proper troubleshooting and repair methods via demonstration and formal documentation. Position Overview: This role ensures practical and technical instruction meets safety and quality standards at all times. May analyze current operating problems and future operating requirements to identify training needs and develop training programs for technicians. In this function you will: The primary function of this role is to oversee and perform expert level mechanical, electrical, systems troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance on equipment in accordance with manufacturer’s manuals, diagrams, schematics and sketches. Consults with equipment manufacturer or engineering personnel when reference materials do not exist. The Trainer will have steady communication and involvement with Engineering department, especially when new equipment or technology is being implemented in the plant. Instructs troubleshooting methodology and oversees corrective and preventative maintenance. This includes but is not limited to: observing devices in operation to locate root cause of problems; dismantling devices to gain access to and remove defective parts; examining parts to detect imperfections; adjusting functional parts of devices and control instruments; repairing and/or replacing defective parts; testing devices to observe performance; performing tests for electrical circuitry and mechanical systems; reconditioning and repairing machine tools. Works closely with technicians to explain the purpose behind steps taken to determine root cause problems efficiently. Demonstrates the repair and/or preventative maintenance steps required to avoid potential equipment failure in the future. Works closely with the Maintenance Manager to develop a broad framework of skills needed to excel at site. Communicates with Engineering to stay ahead of new equipment and/or technology implemented to allow for proper understanding before installation. Completes required training on new equipment and/or technology before passing information to maintenance team. Performs failure analysis and scopes repairs on a wide range of manufacturing equipment, with a focus on CNC mills & lathes. Trains junior technicians on proper troubleshooting steps and techniques with a focus on full repair completion over a “band-aid” approach. Qualifications Basic Qualifications: 2 years of leadership experience. High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution. Associates degree with a Technical focus or 8 years of related experience in specific industry OR 8 years of experience in maintenance industry Legally authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship. This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.” Preferred Qualifications and Position Criteria:  Experience in predictive technologies, precision alignments, and general maintenance of applicable process equipment. Understands electrical, mechanical, fluid power and control systems. Can analyze the problem, synthesize alternative solutions, and perform repairs. Experience in vibration analysis or laser interferometer operations, precision alignments, and maintenance of applicable process equipment.
