We are seeking a Solutions Architect

An opening exists for a database architect/engineer with a desire to face the challenge of commercial electronic product engineering. The engineer will develop a database to house large quantities of high reliability commercial electronics data, software, and images for surveillance programs. After suitable training and mentoring in the existing capabilities, the successful candidate can expect to ultimately take an ownership stake in the on-going analysis and interpretation of electrical, radiation, and other surveillance characterizations of stockpile electrical components. The candidate will work with a diverse team of commercial electronic product testlab colleagues to collect the raw measurement data, team with data analytics and modeling colleagues who will use the data to perform analyses, and ensure that system surveillance engineers receive the analyzed results in order to develop an efficient process that provides up-to-date visibility into the state-of-health of all surveilled components. It is our intention to store the construction and DPA data, X-ray and CSAM images, and environmental and e-testing data to quantify the damage accumulation in long term. Initial activities will focus on efficiently housing large volumes of raw surveillance data.


+ MS in Information Technology , Computer Science, Electrical/Electronic engineering, or equivalent STEM discipline, or BS with 5 years related experience

+ Experience in SQL or other related database language

+ Experience in Oracle or other related database

+ Experience in creating, constructing, and managing a database from the ground up with limited supervision

+ Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance


+ Experience in commercial electronic or Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) device data

+ Experience with development, qualification and sustainment of mechanical and/or electrical systems

+ Experience with managing development activities., including agile methods

+ Experience in analyzing data

+ Interest in data visualization and process optimization

+ Experience with modern programming languages, preferably Python

+ Knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and statistical analysis

Department Description:

High-Rel Electronic Components (org. 7640) is responsible for the development and delivery of high reliability electronic products for Sandia national security systems customers. Full custom products include RF clocks & oscillators, capacitors, and magnetics in addition to the selection and qualification of commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) parts. 7640's unique capabilities lie in our ability to qualify high reliability parts for long life, radiation tolerance, nuclear safety, and size and weight restrictions.

Security Clearance:

Sandia is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications.
